Tip: Disable Windows Store App Auto-update in Windows 8.1

Here’s a small tip:

If you are a Windows 8.1 user, you might have noticed that you are not seeing any app updates count on the Store Tile, that is no Store tile notification seen. As with 8.1, store apps automatically update in the background & its quite useful.

Earlier in Windows 8 one used to get Store tile notification as and when any of your installed Store app got any updates.

In Windows 8.1, Store is by default configured to automatically download and update the app. And many of us prefer this as we know that our apps will always be up-to-date. But for those interested what’s updated and which apps will have no idea with such auto update. But we can turn off this default auto update of Store app feature.

So for this Open Windows Store , from Charms settings> App updates

 

and set ‘Automatically update my apps’ to No
