Microsoft OneNote for iPad now available

Today morning I noticed the Update available on iOS device and it was Microsoft OneNote. But the one thing struck me was it said – Microsoft OneNote for iPad is now available. (Pl check the Update below )

 

Since I’m not an iPad user I haven’t checked it on iPad and didn’t knew it was not available for iPad earlier. So just head over to iTunes App Store & get OneNote for iPhone. Its FREE!**

In the iTunes stores requirement description also include to support iPad -

UPDATE : Just now I received a tweet from an iPad user Tim P  which said-

“I can't find the iPad version despite all the updates on the iPod version. They may have jumped the gun. Chances are apple approved the iPod version before the iPad. Microsoft tried to time it, but it can't be timed.”

So as of now, its not yet available on iPad. But keep checking , it might soon be updated.

[Tip] Office2010 can read out documents for you

Did you know, you can listen to your documents? Office2010 can read it out for you.

Click on the arrow next to Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) > More commands…

It’ll open Word Options Window, Select ‘All Commands’ and scroll down to select ‘Speak’ and click on ‘Add >>’, click OK.

In Excel you have more Speak Command Options-

Now Open the document you want to hear Office2010 Read it for you. Select the portion or all of text you want to hear. And click on the Speak button on QAT and listen to your document.

How to embed PowerPoint presentations or Excel sheets in a Blog post

Starting today, you can embed a PowerPoint presentation or Excel spreadsheet in a blog or website. With PowerPoint presentations, viewers can page through a mini version of the slides or view in full screen. For example, you might embed a PowerPoint presentation of photos from your last vacation, share slides from a lecture or talk that you enjoyed, or broadcast your knowledge of a special subject.

The following embedded PowerPoint presentation walks you through the actual steps for embedding a PowerPoint presentation or Excel file in a blog post.

I've been using Office 2010 Beta for a couple of months and haven't found any problems. The programs launch really fast - the biggest improvement I've seen over 2007 or any previous version. I feel like I save lots of time when Word docs open fast and save fast...not sure if it adds up to much time but it is a noticeable difference!

Today I received a mail informing about the Exciting updates coming soon to Office Live Workspace. Soon it will come together with Windows Live SkyDrive to become a great way to view, create, and edit documents from virtually anywhere.

When Office Live Workspace user accounts are upgraded to SkyDrive, one will get many of the same capabilities as we get today in Office Live Workspace — with some exciting new features such as the Office Web Apps.  Office Web Apps are online companions to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote that allow you to view and edit Office documents directly within a Web browser.

So, what you need to do to get these great new features?

“In the coming months, you’ll receive notification when your Office Live Workspace account will be upgraded, along with further details. Until then, there’s no need for you to do anything.”

Fix for Message Size Issue in Outlook 2010 Beta

If you are using Outlook 2010 Beta, you probably need this fix because all of your emails are huge. It is fixed in the recent RC, but most people don’t have access (it’s not a public RC).  The Office team has just posted a fix for this issue for folks using the Beta.

Recently, we posted information on the Outlook blog about a bug in the Microsoft Office 2010 Beta that increases the message size of some e-mails messages sent from the Microsoft Outlook 2010 Beta. The Office team has been hard at work building a fix for this issue, which is available immediately.

This fix prevents future messages from consuming unnecessary space, but doesn’t resize existing messages. If you reply or forward an existing message that is affected by this bug, it remains enlarged. To help reduce the impact of large messages on your Inbox and mailbox storage quota, you can also run Conversation Cleanup (new feature in Outlook 2010) on large folders. On the Home tab, in the Delete group, click Clean Up. Also, consider starting new message conversations or threads when possible.

Background Removal – Image editing tool in Word2010

There are many new features provided in Microsoft Office 2010, one of them in Word 2010 is an image editing tool-its the Background removal tool for photos. As the name suggests it removes the background from the photo. I can say, it does the job so easily and accurately. Such a tool is not provided even in many photo editing apps. This tool has been created in conjunction with Microsoft research. Let us see how its done-

Insert a picture from Insert > Picture, keeping the picture selected, choose the ‘Background Removal’ tool

As you choose this tool, it highlights in purple color, all the elements which are background. You can adjust the handles to include more of foreground elements you want.

Also you can fine mark it to include or exclude portions you want. And that’s all, once done close the tool and the background is removed like magic ! See the results for yourself!

And after this you can apply any artistic effects available and it will be applied only to the Foreground picture. Also one crop the portion wanted using crop tool.

Its a wonderful photo editing tool indeed which does its job so easily. I would suggest Microsoft to provide this tool in Windows Live Photo Gallery also. One more thing, how about providing an option where the background  portion in purple highlighted can be reversed with foreground. So in one click, we can just reverse the selection. Or an option to save the removed background portion. Sometimes that is also useful.

TechEd USA attendees will get the first chance to participate in limited Technical Preview program of Microsoft Office 2010 that will begin in July.

“The Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview is a limited, invitation only program which will provide you with the opportunity to experience early, pre-release versions of Office 2010 which will include the following applications:  Word 2010, Excel 2010, Outlook 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010, Communicator 2010, Access 2010, InfoPath 2010 and Publisher 2010.”

UPDATE 2: (11:55PM , 12th May ‘09) Today the www.office2010themovie.com  is providing http://twitter.com/office2010movie as the official twitter account. Also ReedShaff from MSFT at Office 2010 forum confirms this as he says “The official one is Office2010Movie for now.”

So unfollow the fake twitter account @officethemovie and follow the official @office2010movie
