Microsoft Universal Mobile keyboard- switch between iPad, Android and Windows devices

Microsoft has introduced Universal Mobile keyboard for your tablets and Smartphones. And you can be on any OS, be it your iPad, iPhone, Android device or your Windows tablet, you can easily switch between them with a flick of a switch! Pair with up to 3 devices with different operating systems and easily switch between them.

“The compact and light weight design of the Universal Mobile Keyboard was built with portability in mind with its protective cover and built-in stand that holds your tablet or smartphone. Just flip the cover open to power-up and make a Bluetooth connection, then set your device into the integrated stand—you'll be typing in seconds. Shutting down is just as fast. Simply close the cover to turn off the keyboard—it's that easy. The rechargeable battery provides up to 6 months of usage on a single charge. But if you're ever low on power when you're heading out, don't worry—just do a 10 minute quick charge and you'll have plenty of power for a full day's work. “

There is no dedicated Windows specific key but dedicated keys for Android and a CMD for Apple users. So people can use shortcuts found in respective OS. umk4

Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 detailed Specs and fact sheet

Nokia today announced the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820, the first devices in Nokia's Windows Phone 8 range.

Nokia Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 is the flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone, including the latest advances in Nokia PureView imaging innovation. Using advanced floating lens technology, the camera in the Nokia Lumia 920 is able to take in five times more light than competing smartphones without using flash, making it possible to capture clear, bright pictures and video indoors and at night. It also compensates for hand movement while the photo is being taken.

The Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia City Lens, the latest addition to the Nokia location suite. By pointing the camera at a city street, City Lens overlays information about restaurants, shops, hotels and more on the surfaces of buildings, for the most intuitive way to explore surroundings. Nokia City Lens is the start of a new augmented reality experience that also enhances Nokia Maps, making it possible to move between maps view and augmented reality view to help people check their direction and surroundings. Along with enhancements to Nokia Drive and Nokia Transport, the Nokia location suite of services represents the most comprehensive, integrated mapping experience of any smartphone.

The Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia's largest ever battery (2000mAh) and, for the first time, built-in wireless charging for an easy, convenient way to get more out of every day.

Nokia also announced a range of wireless charging accessories and partnerships. The Fatboy Recharge Pillow provides a fun way to recharge, while JBL introduced the JBL PowerUP, a wireless charging docking station with high quality audio in retro styling.

The Nokia Lumia 920 comes in yellow, red, grey, white and black. The Nokia Lumia 820 comes in red, yellow, grey, cyan, purple, white and black.

Both phones will be available in pentaband LTE and HSPA+ variants and are expected to start shipping in select markets later in the year. Nokia will announce pricing and specific roll-out dates country by country when sales are due to begin.

Surface Tablets Specifications

Microsoft today announced Surface- Windows tablets and accessories that feature significant advances in industrial design and attention to detail.

surface_01z

“Surface is designed to seamlessly transition between consumption and creation, without compromise. It delivers the power of amazing software with Windows and the feel of premium hardware in one exciting experience.”

  • Surface sports a full-sized USB port and a 16:9 aspect ratio – the industry standard for HD.
  • VaporMg: The casing of Surface is created using a unique approach called VaporMg (pronounced Vapor-Mag), a combination of material selection and process to mold metal and deposit particles that creates a finish akin to a luxury watch. Starting with magnesium, parts can be molded as thin as .65 mm, thinner than the typical credit card, to create a product that is thin, light and rigid/strong.
  • Integrated Kickstand: The unique VaporMg approach also enables a built-in kickstand that lets you transition Surface from active use to passive consumption – watching a movie or even using the HD front- or rear-facing video cameras. The kickstand is there when needed, and disappears when not in use, with no extra weight or thickness.
  • Touch Cover: The 3 mm Touch Cover represents a step forward in human-computer interface. Using a unique pressure-sensitive technology, Touch Cover senses keystrokes as gestures, enabling you to touch type significantly faster than with an on-screen keyboard. It will be available in a selection of vibrant colors. Touch Cover clicks into Surface via a built-in magnetic connector, forming a natural spine like you find on a book, and works as a protective cover. You can also click in a 5 mm-thin Type Cover that adds moving keys for a more traditional typing feel.

Ubislate7- the upgraded ver of Aakash tablet to be renamed as Ubislate7+

The upgraded version of Aakash tablet is renamed as Ubislate7+. Earlier it was called Ubislate7. Also the Aakash which was SoldOut is being named as Ubislate7 now.ubislate7

The makers of these Tablets should plan all these earlier else confusion will be created. I think they want to completely separate the commercial version and what Students are getting at Subsidizes rates. So I think all commercial versions to be in the UbiSlate series.

Anyways those who had ordered Online the Aakash (Now Ubislate7) Tablets are getting the mails and can look for exclusive offers.

Lytro - a revolution in Photography !!

Recently Lytro unveiled, the first Lytro consumer light field camera which is going to change the way Photography was defined till date.

The Lytro light field camera captures all the rays of light in a scene, providing new capabilities never before possible, such as the ability to focus a picture after it’s taken. The pocket-sized camera, which offers a powerful 8x optical zoom and f/2 lens in an iconic design, creates interactive ―living pictures that can be endlessly refocused.

Lytro cameras feature a light field sensor that collects the color, intensity, and the direction of every light ray flowing into the camera, capturing a scene in four dimensions. To process this additional information, Lytro cameras contain a light field engine that allows camera owners to refocus pictures directly on the camera.

ProductPage_Hero_Red

The Lytro camera is available in two models: 8GB ($399, 350 pictures, in Electric Blue or Graphite) and 16GB ($499, 750 pictures, in Red Hot). It is now available to order at Lytro.com and will ship in early 2012. aakashsoldout

I think this was bound to happen as the UbiSlate (Advanced ver of Aakash) was delayed which was promised for Nov launch. The company might have thought whatever stock of Aakash is there, let it be exhausted as the first lot was given to Students. And anyhow the next lot was that of Ubislate only. So instead of loosing customers by the delay , make the 1st ver of Aakash available to public. Anyhow with overwhelming response its sold out!

And many customers indeed are waiting for Ubislate only bypassing Aakash. So those who haven’t prebooked it, can do it now  at http://www.akashtablet.com/

Windows Phone Minimum Hardware requirements changed- Cameras are optional

logo_wp75-v_web

Microsoft quietly changed Windows Phone Minimum Hardware requirements. These are the Standards as of now in the MSDN document dated Sep 23, 2011 . As it shows the Cameras are optional, even the Primary Camera. So does it mean soon we can see low priced Windows Phones coming to markets ?

Windows Phone Hardware -

Standard Hardware

  • A common set of hardware controls and buttons that include the Start, Search, and Back buttons.

  • A large WVGA (800 x 480) format display capable of rendering most web content in full-page width and displaying movies in widescreen.

  • Capacitive 4-point multi-touch screens for quick, simple control of the phone and its features.

  • Support for data connectivity using cellular networks and Wi-Fi.

  • 256 MB (or more) of RAM and 8 GB (or more) of flash storage.

  • A-GPS

  • Accelerometer

Optional Hardware

  • Compass

  • Gyro

  • Primary Camera

  • Front-facing Camera

NOTE- Additional sensors, such as proximity and light, are on the phone but are not available for developer interaction yet.

Personally I’m not in favor of removal of Cameras though there will be section of people who may not be wanting Cameras as in Organizations where Cameras are not allowed for security reasons. So a Smartphone without cameras will be a good idea.

touchpad-ov2

This is the official mail I received just a few hours back -

Making sure customers have a positive experience when they purchase our products is a priority for us. In some cases, limited inventory makes it challenging to fulfill all customer orders. As you signed up for updates on the HP TouchPad, we wanted you to know that we are officially out of stock. Some retailers will have some stock available, but our online inventory is depleted.

Thank you for your interest in this product and the feedback you provided. Your input plays a critical role in defining our product roadmap and will help us continue to bring innovative products to market.

Sincerely,
HP

So $99 HP Touchpads will not available from HP anymore. That’s the end of it. Some retailers will have some limited stock. So have to see at what price they will be made available. The HP blog also updated this http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Next-Bench-Blog/UPDATE-Last-Chance/ba-p/68749
