Add Indic phonetic hardware keyboards

If your native language is an Indic language or you have some knowledge of Indic language, you can try these language keyboards by adding Indic phonetic keyboards. Now you can have Indic phonetic keyboards for Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Indic phonetic keyboards are available in Language settings. You can type smoothly with the new keyboards in any application including the Microsoft Edge browser and Office applications.

1. Select Start > Settings > Time & Language.
2. Select Language from the navigation menu.
3. Select the (+) icon labeled Add a preferred language, or skip ahead to step 6 if your preferred Indic language is already added.
4. Indic phonetic keyboards for Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam are available. Type the name of an Indic language—for example, Hindi—in the search box and select it. Select Next, and disable language features according to your preference.
5. Install the Indic language on your device.
6. Select the Indic language, and then select Option.
7. Select the (+) icon labeled Add a keyboard.
8. Enable the phonetic keyboard, for example Hindi Phonetic- Input method editor.

9. Select Language switch on the taskbar (or Windows logo key + Space) and select the Indic phonetic keyboard you just added.
Note: To reduce OS footprint, dictionaries of Indic phonetic keyboards need to download from Features on demand. Immediately after adding the keyboard, please connect to the Internet and wait until the download completes.
10. Input anything via your hardware keyboard. Type Latin characters as pronunciation to get Indic suggestions in the candidates window.
